Pick up at 6.00am from your hotel or home to Nairobi National Park
“The World’s only Wildlife Capital”
A short drive out of Nairobi’s central business district is the Nairobi National Park. Wide open grass plains and backdrop of the city scrapers, scattered acacia bush play host to a wide variety of wildlife including the endangered black rhino, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffaloes, giraffes and diverse birdlife with over 400 species recorded. Visitors can enjoy the park’s picnic sites, three campsites and the walking trails for hikers.
At 11am- 12noon head to Dr. Sheldrick elephant & Rhino orphanage
The Sheldrick elephant orphanage is best known for their work to protect elephants, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (SWT) operates the most successful orphan elephant rescue and rehabilitation program in the world. You will interact with the baby elephants as they are fed and play in the mud.
12noon – 4pm head to Giraffe centre
After lunch in Carnival restaurant on the way, you will visit the giraffe centre to feed and interact with them at very close range. There is an elevated feeding platform that allows you to hand feed the giraffes, which can be an education in itself.
You can see, close at hand, how the giraffe uses its long prehensile tongue to strip leaves from the acacia branches. There is a teahouse and curio shop there; also a 2 Km nature trail to walk through.
